Almondbury: All Hallows' Church III: The Green Man

The Green Man. Figures which depict heads wreathed in leaves were popular as decorations in both the Middle Ages and Tudor periods. At Almondbury the design has been carved on a roof boss, a decorative feature hiding the joints of the roof beams. The design is picked out in gold paint.
