This material has been compiled and written by the West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service (WYAAS), the holders of West Yorkshire Historic Environment Record. The primary intention is to make available for teachers in West Yorkshire locally-relevant material on the Romans, which it is hoped, that they can incorporate into their lessons. We would encourage teachers to download and print out anything here that they may find useful. The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service has a full-time Education and Outreach Coordinator, Dave Weldrake, who can offer support and advice on ways in which history and archaeology can be used to present a local perspective in the classroom. If you have any comments on this material, or suggestions on how else the Archaeology Service can aid teachers in West Yorkshire, we would be very glad to hear from you.
